Les spectacles
La Maldita Comedia

27 mars | 20h15 | Salle Chiroux | 60′ | En espagnol
Los Mutantes – Universität des Saarlandes ( Allemagne)
from T.A Munos
An unprecedented war breaks out between Earth and Hell. After the heavenly failure to put an end to tyranny in the depths, a country dreams of promoting democracy and, if necessary, freeing the very souls trapped there. Hell is invaded.
Histoire du tigre

27 mars | 21h30 | Salle TURLg | 55‘ | En français
Ecole Supérieure de Théâtre Jean-Pierre GUINGANE – Centre de Formation et de Recherche en Arts Vivants et Plastiques (CFRAV) (Burkina Faso)
from Dario Fo & Franca Rame Traduction – Adaptation de Toni Cecchinato et Nicole Colchat
In a country at war, torn apart by violence, a wounded soldier is left to fend for himself. Wounded and starving, he takes refuge in a cave to escape a violent storm. There he discovers a tigress, herself battered by the loss of one of her cubs and afflicted by an excess of milk. In a moment of mutual despair, man and animal form an unexpected bond: the soldier suckles the tigress to soothe her, while he regains his strength. This unlikely encounter gives rise to a surprising alliance, paving the way for the kind of incredible adventures that only Dario Fo can conjure up.
In 2008, a major step forward was taken with the creation of the École Supérieure de Théâtre (EST-JPG), offering a three-year diploma course.
Since its creation, six classes of students have graduated and the seventh is currently underway. Recognition of the excellence of this training is palpable: the school has twice been named ‘best theatre training structure’ at the Lompolos awards.
Mercutio

28 mars | 20h15 | Salle Chiroux | 60′ | En français
Théâtre Universitaire de Louvain (TUL) – Université Catholique de Louvain-la-Neuve (UCL) (Belgique)
based on Shakespeare
Welcome to Verona, where two families, the Montagues and the Capulets, have an implacable hatred of each other. But young people dream of love, friendship and freedom. At the heart of this quest, Mercutio, Romeo’s intrepid friend, poet and provocateur, challenges the established order. In a bold, lively production combining biting dialogue, dance and humour, each character reveals his or her dreams and wounds. ‘Mercutio’ reinvents Shakespeare, luminous and deeply human.
Musafi, la Réfugiée

28 mars | 21h30 | Salle TURLg | 60′ | En français
INA – INSTITUT NATIONAL DES ARTS (RDC)
from Nkoko Tulama.N
Musafi, a young refugee, tells her sad story. For seven years, accompanied by her aunt, she has moved from one camp to another. Her wish is to return to her country and resume her studies. She has learnt a lot in these camps, and now thinks she will fight for a society where women’s rights are recognised and guaranteed. But the big question is: will she return to her homeland? The tragedy of refugees seen through an artistic medium, rather a symbolic representation, artificial but referenced, in a fictional dialogue with reality.
A Song for My Sister

29 mars | 10h30 | Salle TURLg | 80‘ | En polonais
Teatr ‘niema‘ – University of Szczecin (Pologne)
Création
A Song for My Sister’ is a comedy that tackles the themes of grief, family relationships, guilt and the search for the meaning of life. The show boldly and perversely combines humour with reflection on death, showing it from a new and surprising angle.
The play centres on two sisters, Anetta and Bernadetta, whose complicated relationship is put to the test after the death of their mother. From the very first scene, set in the theatre during a Pinter play, the audience is introduced to a world full of contradictions and absurd humour. The sisters set off on a journey to scatter their mother’s ashes in the cemetery where their father lies. The journey, reminiscent of a road movie, is full of grotesque and absurd situations, the most striking example being the hijacking of a bus. Along the way, the heroines confront their own emotions, traumatic memories and mutual grievances.
AMANHÃ AMANHÃ AMANHÃ

29 mars | 17h00 | Salle Chiroux | 90′ | En portugais
Teatro Universitàrio do Porto (Portugal)
based on Shakespeare
TOMORROW TOMORROW is about the dream that one day we will be able to slowly, ineluctably, cruelly and ruthlessly drive our leaders to madness; kill their sleep, make them afraid to go out, afraid of losing their jobs, lacking money, position, respect, power. Fear of not being able to choose the house they want in the street they like. The fear of having to start buying their food at the Minipreço.
Hiki

TURLg – Théâtre Universitaire Royal de Liège (Belgique)
collective creation
Around the world, young people lock themselves away and don’t want to leave. How can we understand them? Is it simply a case of rejecting a harsh and violent society through inaction? Is it pathological behaviour or the consequences of trauma? Do they lock themselves away simply because the possibility exists?
At the same time, how can you not understand them? If you’ve never felt like slamming the door, staying under the duvet, going off on a tangent, disappearing, then throw them the first stone.
Collective creation starting in October 2023 at TURLg
