“As long as we have a voice” is a collective creation that reviews from different points of view what it means to be a woman in our country. What is it like to be a woman in a Latin American country? To create this piece, we started with the personal experience of each actress and their testimonies dialogued with different performing languages such as physical, choral, documentary and testimonial theater. The piece was built from practice as research and includes a monologue from the unpublished play “To live like this is to die” by the playwright Alejandra Vieira, which served as the starting point for the creation.

The Commedia dell’arte is a fundamental expression of almost all theatrical cultures in representing emotions, feelings, fortunes and miseries of human beings.

Our research starts from the possibility of reinventing the stories and plots of traditional comedy, in the light of today’s complex society, in particular through the exploration of farce and popular fairy tales. A treasure is hidden in the garden of the rich doctor’s house. He ignores it, but a large group of characters around him will do anything to get hold of it.

Text by Francesco Gigliotti
Inspired by an ancient gathering of theatrical canovaccios
